Sometimes words aren’t enough—especially for children, parents, and those carrying too much. You might notice your child is overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling to express what they’re feeling. Or as a parent, you may feel stretched thin, unsure how to help, or quietly carrying your own emotional weight. In these moments, it’s easy to feel alone. But you don’t have to navigate this on your own.
A SAFE, CREATIVE SPACE FOR HEALING I’m Maria Lisa, a Art Therapist in training. I offer a warm, compassionate space where healing doesn’t rely on words alone. In our work together, we create a safe environment where emotions can be expressed through creativity, connection, and gentle exploration—at a pace that feels right for you or your child.
HOW I HELP I work with children, youth, parents, and families, supporting challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, trauma, neurodivergence, and life transitions. For children and teens, therapy often happens through art, play, and creative expression—helping them process big emotions, build coping skills, and feel truly understood. For parents, I provide support in: strengthening connection with your child understanding emotional and behavioural patterns creating a more regulated and secure family environment.
A UNIQUE UNDERSTANDING OF STRESS & TRAUMA Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a paramedic in one of the busiest services in North America. This experience gave me a deep understanding of trauma, crisis, and the invisible toll of high-intensity environments. I also offer support for first responders, providing a grounded, non-judgmental space to process trauma, chronic stress, and emotional fatigue.
SUPPORT FOR MOTHERS As a mother of two young children, I also hold a special place for supporting postpartum mothers. The transition into parenthood can feel overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally intense. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, identity shifts, or simply trying to keep up—you don’t have to do it alone.
MY APPROACH My work blends creativity with practical support, using approaches such as art therapy, play therapy, attachment-focused work, and trauma-informed care. This means our sessions may include: art-making and creative expression play-based exploration emotional regulation tools reflective conversation and guidance Everything is tailored to you or your child’s unique needs, strengths, and comfort level.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Clients and families who work with me often begin to: feel more understood and supported see improvements in emotional expression and regulation strengthen parent-child connection feel more confident in navigating challenges experience greater calm and clarity in daily life Above all, therapy becomes a space that feels safe, human, and supportive.

When I was young, I wanted to be a writer. I went into journalism and that’s where I figured out why I was so obsessed with stories. True stories heal us.
I have spent the last 30 years, both personally and professionally, in the field of addiction. I became increasingly sad as I witnessed the suffering that goes along with substance abuse and behavioural addictions. I learned as a volunteer and mentor that helping people uncover their true story also creates healing. So, I went to Yorkville University and obtained a master’s degree in counselling psychology.
Along the way I found inspiration in several theories. The right intervention depends on what happened to you, and what you told yourself about it.
I have found these techniques work well for addiction but in many other circumstances including disordered eating, depression, and anxiety. Today, I help adults, youth, couples and families to improve their mental health, their relationships, and overall quality of life.
The best part is every story can have a new ending.
